It’s time for our Congressional Delegation to make recreational dog walking permanent in the GGNRA
CFDG sent a letter to our Congressional Delegation (U.S. Representatives Nancy Pelosi, Jackie Speier and Jared Huffman), articulating our serious concerns regarding the recently released FOIA documents for the 2019 Compendium. In addition, we summarized our concerns about the transparency, certainty and closure of this 26-year dog management process. We have ongoing concerns about local NPS officials’ management of dog walking in the GGNRA, and highlight the need for more transparency and certainty regarding the public’s right to access the GGNRA for dog-related recreation.
CFDG asks GGNRA for workable definition of voice control
In mid-April, CFDG sent a letter to the GGNRA to develop a workable definition of voice control and for the manufacturing of signs per the 1979 Pet Policy in Marin and San Francisco counties. CFDG proposed that we would pay for the signage and the GGNRA would provide the labor to install the Pet Policy signage.
CFDG worked closely with our Congressional delegation to get their support to install this pet signage throughout the GGNRA.
CFDG working to keep 1979 Pet Policy in the GGNRA’s 2020 Compendium
CFDG continues to work to retain off leash (voice control) dog walking access at places like Crissy Field, Baker Beach, Fort Funston, Ocean Beach and other areas on GGNRA lands in Marin and San Mateo counties.
Most recently, CFDG, with the help of our legal advisors, our Congressional delegation, and other dog groups, worked to retain the GGNRA’s 1979 Pet Policy in the GGNRA’s 2020 Compendium.
