It’s time for our Congressional Delegation to make recreational dog walking permanent in the GGNRA

CFDG sent a letter to our Congressional Delegation (U.S. Representatives Nancy Pelosi, Jackie Speier and Jared Huffman), articulating our serious concerns regarding the recently released FOIA documents for the 2019 Compendium.  In addition, we summarized our concerns about the transparency, certainty and closure of this 26-year dog management process. We have ongoing concerns about local NPS officials’ management of dog walking in the GGNRA, and highlight the need for more transparency and certainty regarding the public’s right to access the GGNRA for dog-related recreation. CFDG asks that our members of Congress support our efforts to (1) remove the current unworkable and unmanageable definitions of Voice Control, Managed Dogs, and Unmanaged dogs as written in the 2019/2020 Compendiums; and replace with the sensible 1979 definitions; and (2) require the GGNRA to install signage in the GGNRA notifying the public and law enforcement about the dog-management rules set out in the 1979 Pet Policy.
